The Bicycle — the RV of the 1980s

On December 26, 1984 Sandy Young and I flew from Columbia, SC to San Diego, CA for a three week visit my parents. While there I planned to attend the week long (January 4-10) Bikecentennial Bicycle Touring Leadership Training Course. Bikecentennial is now known as Adventure Cycling. Much of what I learned was similar to the AYH Leadership course that I had taken June 16-30, 1984 in North Carolina. I ended up leading trips for AYH (now known as Hostelling International USA) because they offered European trips as well as trips in the US. Bikecentennial only offers US tours. This was Sandra’s first trip to the West Coast. I had grown up in San Diego. Sandra stayed with my parents while I was at the course.

They did get to do some trick or treating this year (Due to the social distancing aspect of it the fact that people might not know what characters they were was less of an issue)

While my younger daughter was fine with buying character costumes for dress up she thought people should be recognizable animals for Halloween.
